WHEN.
On the weekend of Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June 2019.
GETTING THERE. Head north-west along Windsor Road
to McGraths Hill. Turn right at the lights into Pitt Town Road and
follow for four kilometres to Pitt Town. Keep left at the shopping
centre into Bathurst Street, follow straight on for one kilometre
and then turn right into Hall Street. Follow to the end through the
new housing development and turn left down the hill and you will see
Percy’s Place straight in front of you on top of the next ridge.
THE ROAD.
The road is all asphalt until you get to within 200 metres of the
gate when it becomes gravel.
CAMPING. We will be camping in the informal
unpowered end of this bush caravan park (sites 63 to 69, capable of holding an
estimated 30 campers) on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, just 30 minutes
north-west of Parramatta in Sydney’s outer urban area. The area is flat, well
grassed but fully exposed to the sun although there is some shelter under trees.
LIMITED NUMBER. Please note the
attendance form will be closed when the 30 camper trailers limit has
been reached.
MAKING ARRANGEMENTS.
There is no need to book.
If you would like to attend just add your name to the
form provided. The address of the form can be found in message

CAMPING
FEES. $25 per night unpowered (a discount on the normal
fees) for two adults.
DAY ACCESS.

POWER.
We will be occupying the northern end of this 110 acres site where
there is no power. Power is available at the southern end, just
inside the gate but you will be 800 metres from the rest of the
group and may not get the discount camping rate.
NAME TAGS.
If you have a name tag please bring it along.
WATER. Water is available at the camp kitchen and
shower/toilet block just inside the gate, at the shelter in the south-east
corner and from several taps along the eastern side of the property, otherwise
bring your own.
CAMPFIRES. Small campfires are permitted in the existing fire pits
(do not start your own fireplace) or in one of the supplied portable campfire
drums.
FIREWOOD. Your host will arrange a load of firewood
to be delivered with the cost split amongst those who wish to use it. Firewood can be purchased at the park
office or you can bring your own.
AMENITIES. Mobile toilets will be supplied for our
immediate use and a campground amenities block with hot showers and flushing
toilets is available at the southern end of the park. Additional facilities
include a dump point, washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board and
clothesline plus camp shop for basic supplies. There is a boat ramp and
canoes/kayaks can be launched from the beach below our camp site.
DOGS. Dogs
are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times.
RUBBISH. There are rubbish bins provided.
ACTIVITIES.
Our allocated area is immediately adjacent to the river and there is a sandy
beach immediately in front for those who might want to cool off.
The local area has many places
of interest. Pitt Town and Windsor were among Governor Lachlan
Macquarie’s Five Towns, set up to feed the growing settlement of
Sydney from the rich alluvial soils along the Hawkesbury. The
historic village of Windsor (about 7km away) has an extensive street
market every Sunday. Pitt Town itself is a small village just over a
kilometre away. Drives along the Hawkesbury are always attractive,
and you can take in the Richmond Air Force base or the town of
Richmond itself.
Pitt Town has a small
supermarket, a selection of basic shops (bottle shop, bakery, pizza,
pharmacy, butcher, doctor, hardware, pub, several restaurants) so
supplies can be obtained easily.
HAPPY HOUR.
Please bring your table, chairs, nibbles and
drinks to the centre of camp for happy hour at 3pm.
Come sit &
relax with a bunch of like minded people. Check the modifications others have done to
their camper trailers to make camping life all that more enjoyable. You might
meet as complete strangers on the Friday evening, but will part old friends such
is the camaraderie.
You do not need a camper trailer to attend. Members without a camper
are more than welcome to come along & get a first hand unbiased
opinion of a particular camper trailer from their owners. Come along
& meet the faces behind the typing.
Please keep in mind that the group owners will not accept any responsibility
for members & non-members actions during the weekend get together.
If you decide to attend, it is solely at your own responsibility, including any
side trips or outings during the weekend meet.
