Dalgety a southern jewel! Campground Report!

Post by Dexdoggy » Wed May 02, 2018 9:34 am

Recently returned from a 10 day stay in Dalgety at Snowy River Holiday Park (near Jindabyne and Cooma). We like our comforts so we usually stay in a caravan park such as this. Dog friendly!

The camping area is very beautiful with plenty of trees and very grassy. No designated sites so plenty of rooom too! They have a couple of fireplaces, along with a very modern, very well equipped camp kitchen. Amenities are small but immaculate!
We had nice dark starry skies, so we took advantage of clear nights and had our telescope out a bit!

Colin and Sue (hosts) really run a great park that is very welcoming; they really look after you. The park caters for caravans as well (of course!) and also has well appointed cabins.

The park is right next to the Snowy River which is picture perfect! Per Sue's recommendation we went for a walk in the night as well to see the stars reflected in the river - beautiful!

This would have to be a great base in winter for those who want to venture up to the snow as it was less than an hour to Thredbo from here. But even in April, the Alpine areas and the Monaro Plain behind is breathtaking.

Highly recommended! Don't forget to grab a nice meal from either nearby Iona Café or Buckley's Crossing Hotel...

Sounds good. The odd occasion we do camp in a caravan park is last option when the drinking water tank needs filling up. The bush campsite with no marked lines are the best. Next time we are down that way we will check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
