Camper Trailers in New Zealand

Post by swhittakernz » Mon Jan 11, 2021 5:26 am

Hi Team, Sharon here from New Zealand. Looking into to getting a camper trailer and enjoying some off road camping. Doesn’t seem to be much available here. Bivouac campers have one small model and 3dogs another and that is it as far as I can tell. Air Opus, Bushwakka and Cub Frontier/Brumby/... are available imports via agents and there are some 2nd hand (usually 10 year old +) too. Worried about 2nd hand as if any issues will be limited ability for repairs. There are some 2nd hand Conqueror UEV 490 which is tempting as they seem to be beasts which will last forever (when looked after). Doesn’t seem to be any shows to check models out. Any advice? Is it better to buy NZ model for ease of repair, via an import dealer or risk 2nd hand? Thanks

Hi Sharon,

Welcome to the Australian CamperTrailers Group Forum.

The brands you have listed are a variety of styles of camper trailers from soft floor, hard floor & hybrid including a large price range.

It is a good idea to start with a budget & do from there. When buying preloved have the camper trailer set up by the owner while you are viewing, go right over it & ask questions. Secondhand camper trailers usually have all the bugs sorted.

You will find on the tech tips page an article entitled hints when buy a camper http://www.campertrailers.org/camper_bu ... cklist.htm There is also further reading on the tech tips page under the buying a camper heading http://www.campertrailers.org/tech_tips.htm

Hope this helps.
happy camping
