Hi Everyone, new to the group and have a question about camper trailer wheels.
I have a 2009 Johnno camper. It currently has 15 inch sunnies. One recently got damaged so thought I’d look at changing the rims to match those on my Toyota Fortuner.
Stud pattern is the same and wheel fits fine but clearance is significantly reduced.
The original wheels have clearance of around 50mm, new ones around 20mm to the leaf springs.
Wondering if the clearance is ok and also if the reduction in the track width is an issue.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Re: Camper rims change
Hi Chris,
With only 20mm clearance you will not have a lot of suspension travel especially if loaded. You cold add longer leaf hangers to the rear.
You also need to take into account the tent drop off the trailer to the ground. If it does not touch the ground it will throw the tent canvas ends out of square. You could put the trailer wheels on some wood to the matching height & see what it looks like.
We have different wheels, a spare for each & carry a tyre plug repair kit along with a bead breaker & internal patches for anything more serious.
