KickAss 3-way Cig & USB outlet box

KickAss
12volt outlet box

Our soft floor camper trailer is all 12volt with only 12volt cigarette socket outlets & Anderson connectors. There is no inverter to produce 240volts to power 240volt accessories. The charging of our rechargable batteries used in headlights, camera, handheld torches, iphone, ipad & laptop is all done via a range of 12volt chargers with different end connectors, cig plugs & various USB types. A CPAP is also powered by 2volt.

After nearly a year using the KickAss '3 Way Cigarette Socket Splitter with USB Ports', including several one to two week trips & a couple of two month trips, the power outlet box as been a very handy addition to our 12volt kit. The cigarette inlet plug has an on/off switch as well as a volt meter.

We have set up the outlet box under the camper trailer awning using one of the three cigarette sockets to power the LED lighting in this area. The cig socket outlets each have their own illuminated on/off switches. The two USB outlets are ready at anytime to plug chargers in without first looking for a cigarette socket to USB adaptor, plus there is a Quick Charge 3.0 USB port which auto detects the device & charges it at the optimal charge rate.

I made a plywood bracket to fit the RHS steel tubing rack at the rear of the trailer & used the supplied double sided tape to fix the detachable mounting cradle to this so the outlet box can be safely stored when travelling. Only the Anderson connectors are permanently mounted outside as the terminals are self cleaning when inserting the two parts together. Cigarette sockets that are out of the weather & travelling conditions in the mud & dust will quickly rust.
