at
Walcha NSW
community day
Wednesday has been community day
for a number of years. The day
started with a breakfast
cooked by the Walcha Lions Club members consisting of bacon,
egg, sausage & toast along with tea or coffee for $10.
After breakfast there were a number
of Walcha community stalls in the pavilion including cakes, jams &
pickles from the Walcha Country Women's Association, a display by the
Walcha Quilters Group, Judy & Cam's 216 Collection, Yvette's Vetty
Creations, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Walcha Volunteer
Support Group & CamperTrailers group member Jane Tasker with a
spinning wheel demonstration & handspun wool on offer.
In front of the pavilion there was
a display of motorbikes as well as vintage & custom vehicles by the
Oxley Riders Motorcycle Club. Thanks to Oxley Riders member Shane
Carey for organising this.
The nearby Walcha Pioneer Cottage & Museum
was open for members to browse.
Some members went into town for a coffee.
Others viewed the sculptures in the park
aided by the self guided sculpture walk app.
After lunch Phoebe Shumack hosted a
Finska competition with Robyn winning.
George Mavros hosted
the annual Hardy's Vs Softy's bolle competition with the perpetual Nyngan Cup up for grabs. In a hotly contested final the soft floor
camper trailers defeated the hard floors.
Barefoot
bowls was held in the afternoon at the Walcha Bowling Club.
Afterwards most stayed on for
an evening meal at the Walcha Bowling Club bistro. It was Carol's
birthday so happy birthday sung to her. Rob presented a
certificate of appreciation to Dianne, Cheryl & staff.
