Upper Yarra Reservoir Park Meet
Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend

Members & their friends are invited to attend the next Victorian get together at the Upper Yarra Reservoir.

If you wish to attend the get together at Upper Yarra Reservoir please add your name to the POLL

YOUR HOST for the Queens Birthday long weekend will be Doug and Jeannie Ramsay.

WHERE. Upper Yarra Reservoir Park. Upper Yarra Reservoir Park is located off Woods Point Road about 24 kilometres east of Warburton. This park is the upper-most point of the Yarra River accessible to the public.

WHEN. From Saturday 7th June until Monday 9th June 2008.

CAMPSITES. There are large open areas, well protected by trees and some shade. There are picnic benches and fireplaces scattered around the site. We plan to have one central campfire for everyone to gather round.

GETTING THERE. From Melbourne via Lilydale on the Warburton Highway (B380). Travel approximately 24 kms past Warburton on the Warburton-Woods Point Road (C511). The road carries on round a left bend towards Marysville, and there is an entrance way to the park on your right. Continue up this dirt road for approximately 3 kms before arriving at the Park Office which sits in the centre of the large camp grounds.

The park gates are locked at 5pm daily. If you plan to arrive after this, you will need to call the Ranger on 5966 8566 about 3-4 days prior to arrival date to be given a code for the gates.

THE ROAD. Good dirt road from turnoff at highway but suitable for all vehicles.

CAMPING FEES. Adults - $5.70 per night - Children - (2-12 yrs) $3.40 per night – Family $20.30 per night.

Camping fees are payable to the Ranger on arrival – there is an honour system for those who arrive when the office is unattended.

BOOKING. Usually you have to book individually via the Parks Victoria website. We have negotiated a booking with the Park Ranger – please just add your name to the poll and confirm attendance via the ice-breaker email sent out two weeks before the weekend.

POWER. There are no powered sites.

CAMPFIRES. Campfires are allowed in the fireplaces provided.

FIREWOOD. We have to bring our own firewood to this park. It cannot be collected. Please bring a bag with you when you come. There is also the possibility of arranging for a load to be delivered for our use, with the cost split between the attending members. Details of this can be decided in the ice-breaker emails.

WATER. There is water available, but it is recommended to bring your own drinking water.

TOILETS. Flushing toilets available.

SHOWERS. Hot showers available.

WET WEATHER HALL. There is a wet weather hall which provides sheltered seating, electric barbecues, a fireplace and hot water. If the weather proves to be too bad, it’s a good place to retreat to.

DOGS. Dogs allowed but must be on a leash at all times.

RUBBISH. There are no rubbish bins. All rubbish must be removed when you leave so that we leave the camping ground as we have found it.

THINGS TO DO.

Suggestions for the weekend.

Sunday: Walkabout planned for 11am (ish). This gives everyone a chance to view the trailers and set-up of others and find out what they like about it and maybe what they don't.

Campfire Gatherings – We’re a hardy lot that camp in the winter, but we all love gathering round the fire. I expect we’ll spend a lot of time doing that!!

We haven’t got anything formal planned for the weekend. There’s lots to see and do in the area, but we’ve found that many people just like to relax.

Any other ideas would be welcome.

You do not need a camper trailer to attend. Members without a camper are more than welcome to come along & get a first hand unbiased opinion of a particular camper trailer from their owners. Come along & meet the faces behind the typing.

You are also very welcome to drop in for the day.

Please keep in mind that the group owners will not accept any responsibility for members & non-members actions during the weekend get together.

If you decide to attend, it is solely at your own responsibility, including any side trips or outings during the weekend meet.
