Australian CamperTrailers Group
2025 national get together
at Ariah Park NSW

the closing

Friday afternoon saw the closing ceremony held in the showground pavilion. As a little treat the Ariah Park Country Women's Association provided cakes, slices, scones with tea & coffee at $7 per head before the closing with proceeds to the Ariah Park Country Women's Association.

Kevin Phillips thanked everyone for their attendance, the fantastic time everyone had, the friendships formed or renewed & the positive feedback from members. He went on to thank the Ariah Park community for the hospitality shown during the week. A special thank you to locals & CamperTrailers Group members Bryan & Erin Marshall for help in setting up the tours & town events.

Councilor Nigel Judd OAM, who is the longest serving councilor in NSW, thanked the group for choosing Ariah Park as a venue for the 19th national meet.

Ariah Park Community Projects Committee spokesperson Brian Marshall was on hand to receive the $13,516 proceeds from the weeks fundraising which included camping fees, raffle, auction night, gold coin donation to the trivia night, guessing competitions of where the national meet be next year, how long is the piece of string & how many buttons in the jar. After all expenses were deducted, a total of $6,000 profit was made which will be put to good use in funding for the Broken Dam picnic area project which will provide an asset to the community & visitors in many years to come.

Special guest was Dame Edna's sister, Elsie Eldridge who announced the winners of the length of string & the how many buttons guessing competitions & presented the awards to Sheree Dederer & Jan Cook.

Rob thanked members, invited guests & the community who had presented workshops during the week & gave each a certificate of appreciation.

Councilor Nigel Judd drew the three winning tickets of the raffle. Winners were Jill Benham, Warren Marshall & Simon Wakeling.

Spirit of the Group Award is awarded to a person who is brought to the attention of the CamperTrailers Group co-owners for a good hearted deed or generosity helping others during the week long meet. This year the award was presented to Roger Duck who with his paramedic experience was able to keep an eye on a couple of members. Rob presented Roger with the perpetual Spirit of the Group Award.

Richard Wheatly won the Ariah Park Wallys award. When nature called one night, Richard went to the shower tent & was silhouetted by his headlight. No one told him until he came back to the campfire. It is always great to camp with family & friends. Jason presented the award.

Rob told the story of how members Lindsay & Sandra had taken home a large firewood log from the 2012 Wellington national meet & then took it along to the members Flinders South Australian week long meet hosted by Mike Fretwell in May 2013.  After the log was burnt, affectionately known as 'Big Bertha', it was decided the ashes should be taken to the Batlow national meet where it would be presented to the Groups co-owners at the opening ceremony. In the meantime Phil Reid had turned a cricket 'ashes' urn replica on his lathe to hold the remains. Since then the ashes from all national meets have been added. Rob then added the ashes of the Ariah Park campfires to the urn.

A big thank you to all those members who jumped in & helped set up the showground for the week, return it back to pre-national meet & also those who helped set up for the different activities & keeping the amenities clean.

Kevin then announced for the first time a national meet would be held outside NSW with the 20th national meet at Crows Nest in SE Queensland. The 19th national meet was then closed.
